Pioneer expands AV equipment lineup, covers discrete to system components, eyes home theater market

Pioneer Electronics Corp is set to introduce upscale audio-video receivers that feature Dolby Digital AC-3, digital theater system (DTS), and Tomlinson Holman Experiment (THX) decoders in the US market. In Europe, the company will be marketing a model equipped with the MPEG decoder. The company is also rolling out virtual Surround models and new home theater systems based on the 'Lifestyle' version of its audio lineup.

Intel, Sony ink deal to link digital A/V products

Intel Corp and Sony Corp have formed a partnership to jointly promote and spread technologies that link various digital audio-video products such as computers, digital cameras and portable music players. Part of the agenda of the two companies is the creation of a network environment that controls home appliances and audio-visual instruments, and is capable of sharing digital data.
