Newcomers Not Nervous Over Phone Market Pandemonium
Article Abstract:
Despite a shakeout in the telephone industry, a few companies are entering the market. Companies such as National Sound, Toshiba and Tyco Industries are going after specific areas of the market where they see opportunities. Toshiba, which has been producing answering machines and PBX systems for some time, plans on entering the home phone market. National Sound has OEMed phones and is now introducing its own Ikko brand. Tyco Industries is going after the character phone market with Garfield, football and Knight Rider models.

Cordless, Two-Line Models Lead New Phone Product Parade
Article Abstract:
Two-line and cordless phones are arousing the most interest these days. Webcor, Cobra, Comdial, LeTel and others are offering two-line phones. AT&T has a two-line module for its Genesis system. Mura has announced plans to introduce a two-line phone. Many suppliers are introducing new cordless phones. Pace has five new 46-49MHz cordless models, one of which has two lines. Uniden, AT&T, Cobra, Panasonic and other manufacturers have introduced 46-49MHz cordless phones.
