Semiconductor slump expected to rebound in 1999
Article Abstract:
The semiconductor industry is expected to begin its recovery in 1998, from its present downturn, according to NationsBanc Montgomery Securities (NMS) managing directors Brett Hodess and Jonathan Joseph. Speaking at a recent industry gathering, Joseph cited several favorable indicators, including improving DRAM prices, micro-processor revenues, strong demand for electronic chips and products. However, Hodess cautioned that the equipment category may be slow in recovering due to capital-expenditure delays and over-capacity issues.
