NPPG3 branded a 'poisoned chalice.' (Scottish housing policy)
Article Abstract:
Housebuilders argue that housing guidance for Scotland will mean that the number of homes built annually will be reduced and there will be a shortfall of 5,000 homes annually. There will be no requirements for local government to achieve set housing targets and more scope for protesters to prevent nearby housing developments. The number of new housing units could be reduced to 10,000 annually from 15,000, according to the Royal Town Planning Institute's director for Scotland, Craig McLaren.

The price to pay for a lack of enterprise
Article Abstract:
Many planning professionals have expressed strong criticism of Scottish Enterprise's approach to regeneration. They believe that the organisation is not investing heavily enough in regenerating brownfield sites, and also that it is not focusing on the right type of brownfield site regeneration. It is concentrating on relatively clean sites located close to transport links, rather than on isolated, polluted sites which are much harder to regenerate.

Strathclyde suffers over court ruling on housing
Article Abstract:
The Court of Session has ruled against Strathclyde Regional Council's 1992 structure plan update, despite approval having been given by the secretary of state. This ruling was prompted by a protest by the Scottish House Builders Association about the method used to calculate housing figures in the area. Observers believe that this case will have wide-reaching implications.
