Quality costs: a report card on business
Article Abstract:
The estimation of quality costs will give an idea of how well a company is performing. There are many measures of quality improvement, including customer satisfaction and various operational measures, but it is also important for companies to calculate the results of quality efforts in monetary terms. Some companies, such as ITT and Westinghouse, have made use of quality costs for years, and other firms that find the need to clarify real results of quality improvement may find it helpful.

Protectionism or total quality management?
Article Abstract:
Several members of the US automotive industry demanded government intervention after Japanese automobile makers allegedly dumped minivans in the US domestic market. This protectionist attitude is hampering the competitiveness of the country. American management should instead concentrate on quality and service improvement to gain an upperhand in global trade and industry.
