User involvement in innovation projects: toward an information processing model
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to determine the information-processing aspects of user involvement in innovation project development. The study involved the development of an information processing model based on other studies that have applied the information processing framework to other aspects of innovation management. The results show that the number of users and the frequency of user involvement increase as projects move from idea to commercialization. Known uncertainty and frequency of user involvement were also found to be related to project performance.

Technological newness: an empirical study in the process industries
Article Abstract:
A four-dimensional characterization of technological change for product development projects is presented. The four dimensions used are process control, fabrication technology, production equipment, and chemistry. Changes in each dimension sometimes can not be associated with one another as shown in the study, which also reveals that product development in the process industries would depend on variables of process change.

Innovation project technology, information processing and performance: a test of the Daft and Lengel conceptualization
Article Abstract:
The roleof information-processing in a successful product innovation was studied. Fortyfive innovation projects representing 45 firms were analyzed using Daft and Lengel information processing model. Twenty six of the 45 projects were successful and had information richness as a common denominator. Managers of the 19 failed projects emphasized information richness less than managers of successful projects.
