Relieving substrate limitation-soil moisture and temperature determine gross N transformation rates
Article Abstract:
A field experiment was designed with the objective to reveal the interactions between soil moisture, temperature, total, dissolved, and phosphate buffer extractable C and N, and microbial activity in the control of in situ gross N mineralization and immobilization rates in a deciduous forest. The temporal variation of the average microbial respiration rate was strongly dependent on the average daily temperature.

Nutrient limitation and botanical diversity in wetlands: Can fertilization raise species richness?
Article Abstract:
The resource balance hypothesis proposes that the species richness of grassland vegetation is potentially highest when the N:P ratio of plant tissues is 10-15, so that species richness could be raised by fertilization with N:P ratios, respectively. The relationship between species richness and N:P ratios was asymmetric where plots with high N:P ratios were more species-poor than those with low N:P ratios.

Responses of moist non-acidic arctic tundra to altered environment: productivity, biomass, and species richness
Article Abstract:
The factors limiting above-ground net primary productivity (ANPP) and biomass are examined. The results reveal that in non-acidic tundra carbon sequestration in plant biomass will not increase substantially under increased soil nutrient conditions.
