A Mexico of the mind
Article Abstract:
Mexican immigrants, legal or illegal, who have made New York their home have brought along with them a slice of Mexico, be it their music in the form of their Mariachi bands or their spicy food culture. Taking a tour around the Sunset Park, Brooklyn one can see a number of Mexicans dressed in their traditional hats singing for themselves or for the world without a worry about illegal immigration, this carefree spirit of the Mexicans endears them to the world.

Generations of Chinese immigrants who have made Chinatown their home have ended up making money through sheer dint of hard work and smart business. Walking past the crowded streets one can see glimpses of Chinese culture zealously guarded by the older residents but along the Mott one gets to see artists painting sketches of tourists and the portrait of the legendary Sun Yat-sen the founder of Chinatown.
