Lieutenent governors busy at home and abroad
Article Abstract:
National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) member governors have expanded their programs on health and economic development in September 2007. US lieutenant governors met with Taiwanese offcials and discussed broadband deployment and high-speed rails. Seventeen states are participating in Ending Cervical Cancer in Our Lifetime, a public health education campaign. Several lieutenent governors also launched events for the Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, and asthma awarness.

Utah Rep. Paul Ray shares the story and how a Council of State Governments health policy meeting changed his lifestyle and helped him survive his fourth operation on aortic aneurism. Ray is now a strong advocate for healthy living and sets on a 300-mile bicycle trip from St. George to Salt Lake City, after which he plans to announce a legislation to create preventive health care program for low income families upon arriving at the Capitol steps.
