The Golden State, the nation's largest and most loyal Democratic stronghold, once again took a backseat in the party's presidential selection process. One of the great inequities of American democracy is that nearly all-white voters of rural Iowa and New Hampshire set the stage for the nation's biggest political campaign, while powerhouses like California and New York play a second fiddle.

The governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican is popular in the state's most Democratic regions. He has a difficult task if he wants to turn the Democratic state into a Republic state, as Republican Party is not controlled by a single wise man.
