Getting real about capitation
Article Abstract:
Health care reform in the form of capitated payment is becoming widely used in the US health care system. American employers are setting limits on how much money they will pay for employee health care, and Medicaid and Medicare are moving toward capitated systems as well. However, for capitation to work, physicians must become more cost conscious and aware of financial constraints to care. They must also be involved in planning capitation systems from the beginning.
