Lexington, NE's Tri-County Area Hospital had a new Iowa Beef Processors plant set to open in the area and the hospital wanted to be prepared for patients. Hospital administrator Calvin Hiner flew to the Garden City, KS, plant and discovered a young workforce. The hospital increased its prenatal care staff and its physical therapy programs because of the prevalence of repetitive motion injuries for the company's workforce.

New York state's Iroquois Healthcare Alliance, in response to an employer group's request, developed the Health Quality Partnership Project. The project is designed to provide employers with quality-of-care data for participating hospitals. Hospitals are allowed to review data, to make sure that it is accurate and that valid comparisons are made.

George Washington University Hospital is focusing on a service-oriented policy. Officials first conducted an employee survey to target problem areas, such as poor management communication and insufficient performance feedback. Employees agree to uphold service standards in writing, and employees that do not comply can be fired.
