1999: The Road Ahead for NPs
Article Abstract:
The Health Care Financing Administration established rules for certification and reimbursement of nurse practitioners effective Jan 1, 1998. Final rules include a master's degree to practice, national certification for Medicare reimbursement, telehealth programs for rural areas, and defining the referring partnership with medical doctors. From "Incident to" to Telehealth: New Federal Rules and Regulations Affect NPs
Article Abstract:
Proposed changes in the Medicare Part B Physician Fee Schedule for 1999 would make a significant impact on nurse practitioners and other nonphysician providers. The proposals would limit the nurse practitioners on the use of "incident to" billing and would amend the definition of "collaboration." The changes would have the greatest impact on nurse practitioners living within "independent practice states."
