A technique for repairing a prolapsed vagina is described which allows surgeons to plan the final shape and size of the vagina. Prolapsed vagina means the walls of the vagina have partially collapsed.

Research has been conducted on vaginectomy and pelvic herniorrhaphy. The authors report that vaginectomy with or without pelvic herniorrhaphy is associated with low morbidity rate in high-risk patient population.

Injury of the rectum during vaginal surgery

Article Abstract:

Injury to the rectum is an uncommon occurrence in women who have vaginal surgery. In a study of 1,346 women who had vaginal surgery, only 9 developed a rectal injury. The injury was repaired and all 9 women healed without complication.
