Parents, coaches and managers should always question their intentions for pushing junior athletes beyond their capabilities in their sports. Achievement by proxy leads to forms of child abuse that may prove injurious to the junior athlete.

Performance-related anxiety (PRA) is caused by pressure and fear during intense periods in sports competitions. PRA can be prevented by replacing tension with concentration and mental visualization.
