Do the P's in PPM stand for 'promises, promises'?
Article Abstract:
Physician practice management firms (PPMs) have become increasingly common since their introduction in the late 1980s. In 1997 over 30 PPMs, which are publically traded corporations, account for $15 billion in revenues and represent 8% of all physicians. Physicians who are considering selling their practice to a PPM should carefully consider that PPM's corporate culture, resources, commitment to medical care, and history with other practices.
