Effect of cessation of zidovudine prophylaxis to reduce vertical transmission on maternal HIV disease progression and survival
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on zidovudine prophylaxis which is recommended for perinatal HIV-1 transmission reduction. Results demonstrate that zidovudine monotherapy can be considered as chemoprophylaxis in perinatal HIV transmission reduction for HIV-infected pregnant women.

The authors examine trends in HIV-related inpatient admission rates and stay lengths from 1993 to 1997. Results demonstrate the decline in HIV-related hospital admission rates.
