Familial aggregation of Parkinson's disease in Iceland
Article Abstract:
Parkinson's disease may have a genetic component, according to a study of 772 patients with Parkinson's disease in Iceland. According to the deCODE genetics, Inc. database of 610,920 Icelanders, those who were siblings of Parkinson's disease had 7 times the risk of Parkinson's disease, those who were offspring had 3 times the risk, and those who were nieces and nephews had 3 times the risk.

Familial risk of lung carcinoma in the Icelandic population
Article Abstract:
Study was conducted to investigate the contribution of genetic factors to the risk of developing lung carcinoma in the Icelandic population. Tobacco smoke plays a dominant role in the pathogenesis of this disease, even among those individuals who are genetically predisposed to lung carcinoma underscoring the importance of genetic predisposition in the development of lung carcinoma.
