Hunt is on for genes linked to childhood diseases
Article Abstract:
Researchers are launching a large-scale effort to search for the genes behind common childhood illnesses, aiming to uncover information that would be used to guide individualized therapy and devise better diagnostic tests and targeted treatments. The focus would be on some of the most prevalent diseases of childhood including asthma, obesity, diabetes, behavioral conditions, and pediatric cancers, which involve the interaction of multiple genetic and environmental factors.
