A universal growth reference or fool's gold?
Article Abstract:
The use of a universal reference pattern set by the Centers for Disease Control and World Health Organization to compare children belonging to developed and developing countries is probably inaccurate. The setting up of different reference patterns for groups of developing countries would serve as a better index. The breast-feeding patterns exhibit a marked difference in the developed and developing countries while they are comparable between two developing countries. A similar contrast is observed in the height and weight patterns of children from Nigeria and North America.

European Community - FLAIR common assay for erythrocyte superoxide dismutase (SOD); results of an inter-laboratory trial
Article Abstract:
Some 30 laboratories in nine EC countries agreed to use the RanSod superoxide dismutase (SOD) kit as a FLAIR SOD common assay. Though the FLAIR SOD common assay is not necessarily the best assay, it can be used as a common assay against which other assays could be calibrated. It use does not only enable comparability of results between countries but also facilitates research programs between and among European countries.
