More California physicians rejecting new HMO patients
Article Abstract:
The doctors from California are feeling empowered to exclude health maintenance organizations (HMOs) and limit their practices to patients willing to pay cash upfront or those from preferred provider organizations or point-of-service organizations. The December 2002 report of California Workforce Initiative revealed that 50 percent of the physicians in the state are accepting new HMO patients.

Calif. doctors protected on medical pot, but issue far from over
Article Abstract:
Physicians in California have won an injunction that will allow them to recommend marijuana to their patients without fear of federal punishment. The April 1997 ruling is a temporary order that will remain in effect until further trial proceedings. Legal battles have been ongoing since a Nov. 1996 ballot initiative legalized physician-recommended medical use of marijuana.
