No time for kid gloves
Article Abstract:
Latex allergies can have a serious effect on health and may be prevented if the usage of products containing latex are is restricted. The Department of Health has initiated a working party to look in to the current situation with respect to latex usage and its allergic effects. The United States and Canada have also looked into this subject, and the products which contain the offending protein are no longer labelled as being hypoallergenic. The Nursing Times has outlined a number of recommendations regarding the product with the hope that they will be accepted by the Department of Health.

Old-timer's lament
Article Abstract:
Some observers feel that the Project 2000 system is an inappropriate way of training nurses, as it gives them very little experience of actually dealing directly with patients. Others feel that it offers a very high standard of training. Project 2000 seems to be teaching student nurses that all the old ways of working are bad, and it is producing nurses who need a great deal more experience before they are ready to run wards or tackle the many other tasks associated with a management role in nursing.
