Physician voice issues take key role in managed care debate
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association (AMA) has endorsed a new set of initiatives aimed at ending restrictive gag clauses imposed by managed care plans. The association plans to disseminate a 16-item list of professional decisions for which physicians should ultimately be responsible and to encourage health plan accreditors to utilize the list. The AMA will continue to lobby congressional representatives until gag clauses are illegal.

Are your patients satisfied? It's important you know
Article Abstract:
Health care practitioners can assess patient satisfaction by routinely surveying patients and by evaluating the patient services they offer. Practitioners should assess patient treatment, facilities, telephone management, office staff, diversions and space for children, convenience, and the follow-up. These steps are especially important in light of transitions from fee-for-service contracts to managed care plans.
