Public perceptions of the role of television in raising Aids awareness
Article Abstract:
A study into how the public perceive the role of television in Aids awareness found that more than half the respondents had watched a programme about Aids, but 38% had never watched a programme about Aids. 21 per cent felt that television coverage was too little, compared to 11% who thought there was too much coverage. More female respondents than men believed that discussion programmes, concerts and portrayals of persons with Aids would make an impact on public awareness.

HIV and Aids-related knowledge amongst inmates of Scottish prisons
Article Abstract:
Inmates of Scottish prisons were questioned to assess their knowledge of HIV and Aids and were found to be extremely knowledgeable. They were aware of how the virus is transmitted through high risk behaviour and they new how to cut down the risks of transmission. Many did not know whether HIV-positive antibodies protected against contracting HIV and they were unsure about how effective bleach is as a sterliser for injecting equipment.
