Strike fears as Brown hands nurses 'pay cut'

Nurses have expressed a strong disapproval of chancellor Gordon Brown's imposition of splitting the 2.5% rise in their pay in two stages of 1.5% and 1% as it renders them an overall increase of just 1.9%, amounting to a pay cut. Nurses unions have threatened taking an industrial action against this.
