Health care consumer report cards: what do patients and families really want to know? What should they want to know?
Article Abstract:
Health care quality is generally measured using three categories: clinical quality, customer satisfaction and service quality. Consumers usually only receive negative comments about clinical quality based on the single case. Service quality is an important issue between convenience and appointment availability. Patient satisfaction usually involves being treated with respect. Consumers' interest in health care quality changes based on their health status and so quality measures should be created using the perspective of individuals with chronic illnesses.

Measuring the impact of advanced practice nursing on achieving cost-quality outcomes: issues and challenges
Article Abstract:
It would be highly desirable to accurately measure the effects of advanced practice nursing (APN) on costs, quality of care and patient outcomes, but the complexity of the task has made it difficult to proceed. APN includes nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, nurse midwives and clinical nurse specialists. Setting up a study which allows distinction of specialties and also generalization of the data is a challenge, but some basic guidelines put forth here may help to begin.
