Unsentimental education
Article Abstract:
A family planning nurse from Walsall Community Health NHS Trust, Walsall, UK, describes her work in personal and social education lessons in schools. She works in close collaboration with school nurses and also spends time working in a clinic to ensure that her knowledge is up to date. The benefit of linking health and education is exemplified by the attendance of young people at the clinic asking for a consultation with the person whom they have met in school.

Practice still imperfect
Article Abstract:
UK nurses can learn about the role of nutrition and nutritional assessment in the care of patients, but do not always put their knowledge into practice. Whilst lack of time may be a factor in lack of records on patients's weight, lack of openness and enthusiasm by staff could be of greater significance. If patients were given greater nutritional care, over 260 million pounds sterling expenditure annually could be saved from the National Health Service budget.
