Several research studies conducted so far reveal that work-related strain causes musculoskeletal disorders among employees. The role of the employers in developing measures that pacify the escalated work burden, time pressure and high job demand at work place is emphasized.

The author, a member of the Fire Department's Emergency Management Division, discusses his experiences of the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and his recovery from the tragedy. A ceremony to remember the dead at the Memorial is also described.

Discrimination: the colorless, odorless and tasteless workplace hazard

The view is expressed that work practices which are unsafe affect employees in ways comparable with discrimination practices. Several legal cases involving health and safety issues are discussed.
