Dominican-born Julio Franco, a first baseman for the New York Mets, became the oldest regularly appearing position player in the history of Major League Baseball (MLB) in 2005. Franco's distinction as a ballplayer is not limited to his age, and after 28-plus seasons as a pro, which saw him play for the Cleveland Indians, the Texas Rangers, and many more, he maintains a career batting average of just under .300.
