An updated look at nonqualified personal pension plans
Article Abstract:
Personal pension plans provide a one-stop option for sponsors who desire to augment their qualified plans to maximize benefits and ensure adequate provisions for themselves and their family upon retirement. The Employee Retirement Income Security Act nondiscrimination requirements and compliance costs has devalued many qualified plans. Moreover, tax policies have also exacerbated demands on potential investment portfolio returns. Since nonqualified personal plans are not subject to ERISA and are managed by an outside investment firm, they become a most attractive investment.
