How do lean management organizations behave regarding training and development?
Article Abstract:
Recent research has looked at the role of training and development in lean management companies. Particular attention has been given to highlighting typical behavioural patterns of such companies in the area of training and development. A clear link was found between lean management and training and development, but the strength of this link varies from country to country. However, the lean management pattern as a company-specific variable was found in most of the countries covered by the research.

In search of management development in Europe: from self-fulfilling prophecies to organizational competence
Article Abstract:
Recent research has assessed the concept of High Flyer programmes in management development, looking particularly at 'fast-track' programmes for high-potential employees. It was found that High Flyer programmes still mainly serve to boost the careers of individuals, rather than to improve the performance of the company as a whole. Companies need to take an approach which connects career development and personal growth with company growth and boosting competitiveness.

What drives enterprise training? Evidence from Australia
Article Abstract:
Human capital theory is inadequate in its treatment of training at the enterprise level, according to research into the operation of training at the enterprise level in Australia. This research produced little empirical evidence for the development of the learning organization. Employees are becoming aware of the need for continuous learning, but very few companies are focusing on offering lifelong learning opportunities for all their staff.
