The future of social security co-ordination for people moving from one EU country to another
Article Abstract:
Members of the European Union issued the European Economic Council (EEC) Regulations 1408/71 in order to ensure that laborers travelling within the continent's borders are granted with appropriate social security privileges. Under the new guidelines, illegible employees are entitled to maintain their status within the home country in a period of one year, with a possible extension of another 12 months. The legislation proved meaningful in promoting the welfare of European workers and creating cohesiveness among European social security schemes.
