The effect of human resource management practices on the perceptions of organizational and market performance of the firm
Article Abstract:
The link between human resource management (HRM) strategy and perceived organizational performance was investigated using a random sample of 215 Israeli organizations from the public and private sectors. Results showed that a positive correlation existed among certain HRM activities and the perceived performance of these organizations. The positive correlations were found for labor practices that encourage employee advancement, employee participation programs, training programs that stress individual skills, and compensation schemes that reward performance. Results also showed that organizations are more likely to perform well on the stock market if they have systems in place for identifying candidates who fit in with the needs of the job, the work team and organization.
