Ex-spy says U.S. indicted him for role in Pan Am case; former Mossad agent claims mail-fraud case is a move to discredit him
Article Abstract:
New York sole practitioner Gerald Shargel claims the government is prosecuting his client, former Mossad agent and US government investigator Juval Aviv, purely to discredit him. As a member of the defense team for the airline in the bombing of Pan Am 103, Aviv wrote a report saying the terrorists used information about the CIA's protection of a Syrian heroin-smuggling ring to get through airline security. Now he is charged in a $20,000 mail and wire fraud case stemming from a 1991 security survey for GE Credit Corp.

Parties and politics at ATLA meet
Article Abstract:
The Assn of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) held its 46th annual convention in Aug 1992, and as the anti-tort-reform group met, a pro-products liability group placed an ad criticizing ATLA's position in a legal newspaper. In response to media reports that its tort reform stance was softening, ATLA replied that this was not the case. There were also meetings on breast implant litigation and a seminar by Melvin M. Belli.
