Good idea gone bad; Anderson addresses House Judiciary Committee, urges that Independent Counsel Act be laid to rest
Article Abstract:
ABA Pres Philip S Anderson testified in favor of not renewing the Independent Counsel Act to the House Judiciary Committee. According to Anderson, the public was confident the law caused hostile and unbalanced treatment of those subject to its purview. The law requires the appointment of a special prosecutor by a three-judge panel of the US Circuit Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia if the attorney general determines after a preliminary inquiry that a further investigation is called for.
