Radio 3 and Classic choose new heads
Article Abstract:
BBC Radio 3 controllership was assumed by Roger Wright, who heads BBC classical music. Meanwhile, Roger Lewis, who is the worldwide president of Decca Records, was named Classic FM managing director and programme controller. Lewis and Wright's new positions were both reported on Sep. 21, 1998. Wright had been selected to sustain Radio 3's distinctive cultural role in the world of classical music and to preserve the network's high musical and artistic credentials. On the other hand, Lewis replaced Murray Dudgeon, who resigned as Classic FM managing director in July 1998 to work with McCann-Erickson, an advertising agency.

Parry lined up for top Talk post
Article Abstract:
TalkCo has been speculated to be considering Press Association (PA) executive editor Mike Parry to become the new program chief of Talk Radio. Reports note that Parry will be relinquishing his post at PA as soon as TalkCo's acquisition of Talk Radio is completed. Parry is said to be replacing current Talk Radio program director John Simons since TalkCo MacKenzie of TalkCo has been reported to be looking for a print journalist to head the radio outfit. TalkCo is expected to complete its acquisition of Talk Radio in the next few days after November 6, 1998.

Candidates tune up to succeed Kenyon
Article Abstract:
BBC Productions Classical Chief Roger Wright appears to be favored by the industry to succeed BBC Radio 3 controller Nicholas Kenyon, who is resigning after six years in the office. Other contenders for the position are previous Classic FM head of programmes Chris Vezey and Hilary Boulding, who is an R3 commissioning editor. Kenyon, whose current contract is yet to expire in two years as of July 6, 1998, will assume the new office of controller of BBC Broadcast Proms and millenium programmes as soon as he is relieved.
