Travis Baxter is managing director of CLT UK Radio, and has the task of overseeing a diverse group of radio stations, from Talk Radio to RTL Country. He also has the job of trying to improve the fortunes of its flagship stations. It is rumoured that Talk Radio is losing about 1 million pounds sterling a month, whilst many core UK listeners to Atlantic 252 are flocking to other stations. Baxter is convinced that the company's new business strategies will produce results for its stations.

The UK now has 173 commercial radio stations, which aim to increase their profile among advertisers. They are to invest 2.5 million pounds sterling in a marketing campaign, hoping to generate an additional 115 million pounds sterling of national advertising income over the next five years. The sector has seen a strong recovery over the last few years, and has already managed to double its advertising revenue. The commmercial sector now holds more than 50% of UK listening.
