Making close supporting fires happen
Article Abstract:
There is the feeling by some that the US Army's Field Artillery has abandoned close supporting fire during tactical maneuvers. This is not the case, but there are problems associated with close supporting fire, and those problems need to be addressed by all concerned.

'Gs' gain experience from the exercise, too
Article Abstract:
The Joint Readiness Training Center designated some 40 soldiers and sailors as 'guerrillas' in a Special Forces training exercise. The exercise was designed so that the designated 'guerrillas' learned, as well.

Operation-centric warfare: the network is merely a tool

The armed forces are developing a network-centric system, designed to bring the greatest information capabilities to warfare. It will give the Army the option to fight only where and when the commanders choose.
