The "Citizen Course" : compulsory for all
Article Abstract:
French men and women register with the military at age 16, and at 17 take a one-day course on French military policy; certificates from both are required for academic exams, drivers' licenses, and other papers. Volunteers can undergo further training to become civil reservists, conscripts, or military reservists.
