EC probes Time Warner-EMI music deal
Article Abstract:
The European Commission has started its four-month extended investigation of the proposed joint venture between Time Warner Inc's music operations and EMI Music. The commission's probe was spurred by the fear that the merger would create an oligopoly of four firms, controlling 80% of the European music market. These music companies include the to-be-merged Warner/EMI, Seagram's Universal Music, Bertelsmann Music and Sony Music.
