EarthLink aims for AOL, feels heat from free services
Article Abstract:
Sprint Corp will invest an additional $77 million in EarthLink Network Inc in Feb 2000, a signal that the telecommunications firm will increase its holdings in the Internet service provider from 14% to 28%. The investment will also boost the chances of EarthLink, which is aiming at the lofty position held by America Online. EarthLink, which has merged with MindSpring on Feb 4, 2000, is considered a distant second in the race for online services supremacy.

Rules allowing AT&T, MediaOne deal likely to pass
Article Abstract:
The FCC is expected to change its rules on cable company ownership, a development which will enable AT&T Corp to finalize its acquisition of major cable firm MediaOne. AT&T will, however, be required to sell most if not all of its holdings in its TV programming unit Liberty Media. The change in cable ownership rules will determine if AT&T will realize its plan to provide local telephone and Internet services through cable lines.
