Heart drug called a lifesaver
Article Abstract:
Clopidogrel could save thousands of lives if taken routinely with aspirin by people with acute heart trouble. A study conducted on 12,562 people with unstable chest pain or mild heart attacks showed that dialy aspirin and clopidogrel, which is sold as Plavix, together could prevent 50,000 to 100,000 major heart attacks, deaths or strokes annually in North America. However, at $2 to $3 a day, doctors say that the drug may be too costly for many people needing it.
