Ford Canada cuts more jobs

Oakville, Ont.-based Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd. has announced it will eliminate 350 jobs. Ford, which is responding to declining auto sales in North American markets, will reduce production of Windstar minivans at its Oakville operations.

GM Canada layoffs set for new year

General Motors of Canada Ltd. plans to slash production by 23%, and will begin with layoffs in January 2001. One of the two plants in Oshawa will be shut down in the second half of January, and both plants will eliminate all overtime.
