GM still pushing lame-duck Oldsmobiles
Article Abstract:
General Motors (GM) has resorted to a new ad campaign and good deals to lure consumers in buying Oldsmobile automobiles even if the automaker plans to phase out the brand within the next few years. For instance, an Intrigue sedan can be had for $22,000 to $26,000 after a $1,000 rebate, while buyers have the option not to make payments or accrue interest until Jan 2002. GM is also offering some of its best warranties on Oldsmobiles, five years and 60,000 miles.

GM accelerates new generation of small cars
Article Abstract:
General Motors (GM) has accelerated the development of a new generation of small cars because it is losing young and first-time buyers to South Korean automakers and Ford's Focus. The automaker has seen Korean counterparts Hyundai, Kia and Daewoo gain a 3.6% share of the market with their low-priced automobiles. GM is also concerned with its lack of appeal among young buyers, lagging behind Volkswagen, Honda and Ford in the percentage of buyers below 35 years.
