Mondex pulls plug on Guelph pilot project
Article Abstract:
Mondex Canada, a group composed of 10 top financial companies in Canada, has terminated the Guelph pilot project that began in February 1997. The association, committed to an electronic commerce program reached between 50 nations around the world, decided to discontinue the experiment after Bank Of Montreal, Toronto-Dominion Bank and Canada Trust failed to join the project. The termination of the Guelph test, which is expected to cause a delay in the release of the Mondex card, was also caused in part by the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce's decision to leave the project.
