Consumers and some members of congress are calling for greater government oversight of drugs already on the market following the harmful revelations of many of the FDA-approved drugs. Michael Leavitt, the secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), states that the department needs to move in a direction in order to monitor the drugs after its approval to the market.
