Australian voters are not satisfied with the two major political parties. Half of electorate would like to see more independent and minor parties in parliament, and more than one-third want minor parties to hold the balance of power, according to a survey. The survey further showed that if voters act as they have indicated, the Colation or the incoming Labor government would have to rely heavily on the support of minor parties.

Australian are deeply divided over prime minster John Howard's get-tough attitude on issues of Waterfront reform and Wik, according to a Bulletin Morgan poll. His position also reveals that his leadership has been weakened by his indecision on a number of economic issues. The poll revealed that the Coalition government is in danger of alienating voters and may deliver the government to the Labor opposition.
