A wilderness rooted in the classics: Tony Williams' Wilderness ark 31 records
Article Abstract:
Tony Williams, other than being an expert jazz music drummer, had unrecognized compositional ability. He finished a course in orchestral composition from the University of California at Berkeley. His 21 orchestral compositions collected in the album called 'Wilderness,' contain the majestic element classical music and the rhythm of jazz. However, with racism in the music industry and a minimum share of record sales for jazz music, this remarkable achievement of a black composer receives little appreciation.

Teaching the classics radically: developing non-canonical readings of canonical texts
Article Abstract:
Early socialists, such as Karl Marx and Lenin were well-versed in the Greek and Latin classics. Modern-day socialist countries have neglected the classics for economic achivement, such as high gross domestic product, to their eventual detriment. The Ancient Greek classics have been used as privileged canons since the late 4th century BC and have acted as the main basis of the Western culture thereafter. The article examines the ways in which these canons have been interpreted.
