This article examines the legal measures available to the international community in addressing human rights violations. The author, focusing on Kosovo, Chechnya, and East Timor, explains the international legal system, the manner of application of international human rights law, such as the use of force by the international community, and the problems facing the current system.

Russian nationalism and Moscow's violation of human rights in the second Chechen war
Article Abstract:
This article examines the causes of the second Chechen war and the massive human rights violations that ensued. The author argues the Russians were motivated by regaining national pride and used the concept of nationalism, fueling xenophobia and prejudice against Russian minorities, to justify and legitimize the human rights violations and the war.

Chechnya: another battleground for the perpetration of gender based crimes
Article Abstract:
This article examines the crime of rape committed against Chechen women by Russian soldiers and explores the legal and historical framework of war crimes committed against girls and women. The author maintains that for rape to be considered a crime against humanity the sexual assaults have to be committed on a large-scale, systematic basis.
