Ruskin's 'Unto This Last' (1862): a reconsideration
Article Abstract:
John Ruskin's views on economics and society in his book 'Unto This Last' can be applied to the way business enterprises conduct personnel management. Ruskin believes that man's life should revolve around his work, employees should be allowed to limit their working hours, employer paternalism improves equality of work and that mutual respect in the workplace is a necessity. Furthermore, Ruskin holds that the equality proposed by Marxism is impossible and that governments should focus on the happiness of its people.

Immutable India
Article Abstract:
Traditional India prized immutability and considered change as an imperfection of all living things. This high regard for immutability can be gleaned from the Hindu caste system which dictates that an individual is a permanent member of his caste from birth to death. The Indian caste system is an amalgamation of ethnic, geographical, historical and religious elements to create a social phenomenon that celebrates the ideal of purity.
